Selling Happiness

Updated: May 4, 2021

I can’t believe how quickly this first month of 2020 flew by! While it took me a second to ramp up my communications with y’all again, I wanted to take a moment to reflect before I jumped ahead. 2019 was an incredible time of growth, education and expansion for our business. It definitely wasn’t without some mishaps and challenges. That is simply life on life’s terms and I like to review those as well to gain insight on how to move forward.

Have you set any New Year’s resolutions? I don’t necessarily set resolutions, but instead set intentions. Recently I had to explain to my almost four year old twin sons, where I work. They know I work with “Poppy” but try to explain to a child the concept of jewelry. It’s quite advanced if you think about it. So the best explanation just popped into my head, I replied “Daddy sells happiness.” There is profound wisdom in getting to the root of life’s questions when you talk to children. My father and I are in the business of happiness. The jewelry we create are bookmarks in life’s most special moments. It’s an honor and a privilege that I don’t take for granted.

Being in the business of happiness, I’m setting my intentions towards this credo. While happiness is fleeting, it comes to some of us naturally. Some have to work harder at it. I’m a big believer that happiness is a choice. Small actions taken daily, often for others (not yourself), leads to a happy contented soul. I may be in the business of fine jewelry, but I attribute my family’s success to how we choose to greet each day. We count our blessings, give back to others and take time to cherish every moment we have with those who matter most.

Each month I’ll be offering some small steps you might find useful in your own journey. Jewelry is simply a tangible representation of joy. Engagements, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, babies...fine jewelry shows up for the moments in our lives that matter most. And while each day can’t be a celebration, we can simply glance down at our hand or up at our ear to remember a moment that softens our heart and makes us smile.

Wishing you all nothing but happiness in 2020!
