For example, resetting a single diamond from an engagement ring into a solitaire pendant is generally one of the simplest and most affordable redesigns. Creating acustom diamond bracelet using stones from multiple rings, while adding additional matching diamonds, is naturally a more involved project.

Will I Lose My Original Stones or Gold?

This is one of the questions we hear most often. The answer is no.

Before any work begins, every piece of jewelry is carefully documented, photographed, and logged into our system. You will receive a receipt containing these details and the image of the photographed piece(s). When it comes to your precious metal, you have several options.

Gold and platinum are tested and weighed, and their precious metal value can be applied as a credit toward your new project. If your gold has exceptional sentimental value, we may be able to reuse it in very simple designs, such as aclassic wedding band. However, for most custom jewelry, we recommend using freshly refined precious metal.

Older jewelry has often been resized or repaired over the years, introducing solder that can compromise the quality of a new casting. Starting with newly refined gold or platinum allows us to create a stronger, cleaner, and more reliable finished piece. If you'd prefer to keep your original gold, that's perfectly fine too. It belongs to you.

Can Every Diamond or Gemstone Be Reused?

Not always. Every stone is evaluated individually before we recommend incorporating it into a new design. Occasionally we find chipped diamonds, heavily worn colored gemstones, poorly-cut or single-cut diamonds, or diamond simulants that simply aren't worth resetting into a new custom piece.

Sometimes the best design isn't the one that uses every stone but the one that uses the right stones. Our goal is never to maximize the number of gemstones in a redesign. Our goal is to create a piece you'll love wearing for decades.

How Long Does Jewelry Redesign Take?

Most redesign projects begin with a private consultation. After reviewing your jewelry and discussing your goals, we'll provide design recommendations and an initial estimate.

For many projects, we create a detailed CAD (computer-aided design) model. Once your deposit is received, you'll receive a digital 3D rendering, often within just one or two business days. This allows you to see your design, request changes if needed, and approve every detail before production begins.

Once the design is finalized, most projects are completed within 2-4 weeks, although particularly intricate pieces may require additional time.
